Technical Specification
Sectional Garage Doors
We have tried to be as comprehensive as possible with this technical specification section. Please ensure you read all of the following information to make yourself fully aware of all the requirements and options in order for the correct Gliderol sectional garage door to be installed into your garage.
Design
A sectional garage door is a vertical lift garage door that is constructed from a number of individual door panels that are hinged on the inside face. The hinges allow the door panels to retract back around the curved profile of the guide rails to allow it to sit horizontally within the garage ceiling space when the garage door is fully open.
Both the insulated and single skin Gliderol sectional garage door are most commonly installed inside the garage opening. The vertical tracks fix to the back of the brickwork therefore allowing the maximum possible drive through width to be maintained. The horizontal tracks are connected to the ceiling above using a number of hanging brackets that are capable of taking the doors weight safely.

Side Room Requirements
As a result of this it is essential that adequate headroom and side room is available to install all the necessary door hardware and running gear. We recommend that a minimum of 120mm of space is available each side of the opening to make installing the door as easy as possible. The Gliderol sectional garage door will fit into just 90mm of space but will be more difficult to install and any deviations in the building structure may leave the garage door impossible to install.
Alternatively, if side room is tight the door can still be installed but part of the guides will be visible from the outside of the garage and the drive through width will be reduced slightly. White frame legs are supplied as standard to give a neat finish to the guides appearance. We can also supply colour matched frame legs for an additional fee for any other colour. Golden Oak and Rosewood will feature brown frame legs.
The other major consideration when deciding upon if a sectional garage door is suitable for your garage is the amount of headroom available.
Headroom Requirements
In order to maintain the full drive through height of the structural opening for garage doors featuring the low headroom kit, we recommend that there be a minimum of 110mm of space available for a manual door and 150mm of headroom for an automatic sectional garage door. Please note that if you plan on fitting a handle to the sectional garage door you will require up to 60mm more space.
This measurement is taken from the underside of the lintel to the bottom of the roof trusses or the lowest obstruction. Please remember that this height must be maintained back into the garage the full height of the structural opening plus 660mm. If the headroom is limited or restricted by low beams, the Gliderol sectional garage door can be installed lower and the gap formed at the top of the opening being covered by the white fascia that is supplied as standard on all Gliderol sectional garage door regardless of whether it is the single skin or insulated version.

Thermal Efficiency
With energy prices at an all time high, it pays to make every part of the home as energy efficient as possible. As one of the largest structural opening in domestic properties, it makes sense to ensure that it is adequately protected from heat loss. With insulated sectional garage doors from Gliderol installed into the garage, the heat will no longer be able to escape.
Standard or Bespoke Sizes
Supplied in 16 standard sizes up to a width of 4877mm and a huge selection of height variations up to 2980mm there is sure to be a door suitable for your requirements. Should the garage opening fall outside of a standard sized door, Gliderol are able to manufacture doors in bespoke sizes in millimetre increments to ensure the perfect fit.
Please note this option carries a small surcharge. To price for a bespoke garage door you need to take the next largest size to the one you require and add the cutting fee of £75 to the door price.
Range of Colours
Gliderol sectional garage doors can be specified in a choice of 4 standard painted colours for no additional charge or the option of 2 laminated wood grain finishes in either Golden Oak or Rosewood for a small premium.
For a one off finish, we can also order the door for you in any available RAL colour that will help to create a unique and individual appearance to your property.
Smooth or Woodgrain Finishes
Gliderol sectional garage doors are available in a choice of either a smooth contemporary finish or can be embossed in a wood grain effect finish to give the appearance of a painted timber garage door. In addition to the standard painted colours, Gliderol also offer 2 smooth laminated finishes. These blend particularly well with traditional period properties.
Window Designs
Design details are what separate`s a good sectional garage door from the very best. With a vast selection of window designs to choose from, Gliderol allow homeowners to create a really unique appearance to the garage frontage and will not only allow light to enter the garage but will also add to the overall aesthetic appeal of the home.
Between the Reveal Fixing Kits
For installations where there is no available side room in which to conceal the guides there is now the option of a between the reveal fitting kit. When used in conjunction with the Gliderol sectional garage door, this kit allows the door to be installed between the opening in the same way as a standard up and over garage door is installed.
Supplied with 2 x frame leg covers that conceal the vertical tracks and provide a quality finish to the installation. In addition to this a fascia is also supplied with the kit.
