About Insulated Roller Doors
What are insulated roller doors?
Many of us simply don’t use our garages to store our cars anymore; that is such a 20th Century thing to do anyway! It’s now a fact of modern-day living that, in order to get a bit more space for the kids (or simply to get them out of the way) or to find a place for all the machines we now have to live with, we need more space. For many people on new estates, space is something which is a bit of a luxury and thus any spare room is valuable- this means that garages cease to be garages and become recreation rooms, or utility rooms or dens.
This is a wise use of space and yet you need to consider how you will extend the home comforts you will be used to in your house into your outbuildings- how will you make it cozy and inviting? The simple and most obvious way is to invest in an insulated roller door.
As well as keeping the cold out, insulated roller garage doors can also help keep the noise in; perfect if your teenager thinks they are on their way to musical stardom with the new band they’ve just started. Just like its sister, the Gliderol single skin door, an insulated roller door is an excellent way of conserving space; it also makes your garage feel more like another homely room as the traditional swinging doors are removed.

How are the roller doors insulated?
All our insulated doors are made from individual foam filled slats which are fitted closer together than in a more traditional door. We use interlocking 77mm twin walled aluminium sections that are 18mm thick which are filled with an insulating foam which, as well as keeping you warm, also ensures that your door is sturdy and secure.
In addition to the standard insulated roller garage doors, we also offer a range of compact insulated garage roller doors that have been designed for applications with restricted headroom. Using a smaller 52mm lath which is 13.5mm thick the door is able to coil into a smaller roll that only requires 205mm of headroom as opposed to 300mm of headroom for the standard insulated roller garage door.
Why choose an insulated roller garage door?
We know that, if you’re considering changing your garage into another room for your house, which space is probably at a premium. Thus, you may be interested to learn that, not only are you gaining an extra room when you choose an insulated roller garage door but you are also saving vast amounts of space as well. Because the doors open up into the roof of your garage, there are no cumbersome swinging doors to try and accommodate.
When you’re converting your garage into another room, you will still need to consider what’s going to happen to your cars, particularly if you have a short driveway. What a roller garage door means is that you can park your vehicle right up to the garage door and still be able to open it; something which is obviously not possible when you have traditional garage doors. With the ability to save drive space and convert your garage, many more people are turning to roller garage doors as a way to modernize and improve their homes. Insulated roller garage doors are also the ideal solution for garages that have a room situated above it.
If you do decide to convert your garage into a usable space, then an insulated roller garage door will prevent heat loss from occurring, ensuring the space within stays at a constant temperature, it will also prevent unwanted debris from entering the space as you will have created a tight seal around the door. This door type is very straight forward to install, following the manufacturers installation manual.
